Debbie Adler is the Head of Commercial and Marketing at London's Garden Studios. She works with clients across film, television, advertising, and more to secure productions for their sound stages and virtual production studio.
She joined Garden in 2023, having moved to London from Los Angeles where she led a new economic development organization with the Mayor's Office. Prior to that, Debbie served as a leader within the UK government’s Department for International Trade (DIT) as the North America Sector Director for the ‘Creative, Media and Sports Economy’ team. She worked with British, Canadian, and American companies across screen, games, immersive, experience economy, advertising, sports, and music to promote trade and investment with the UK.
During Debbie’s tenure with the British government, she worked closely across governmental departments and with clients to champion the expansion of sound stage space across the UK for film and high-end television production as well as virtual production stages. She is passionate about the UK as the global epicentre of production and as the leader in virtual production innovation.
In her early career, Debbie worked at the legendary LA radio station, KCRW, the film festival submission site, Withoutabox (acquired by IMDb), the iconic channel, HBO, New York's public television station, WNET, and the digital strategy agency Blue State Digital. She was indoctrinated into British culture through watching "Pride & Prejudice" repeatedly on PBS in the 90's, reading unsolicited scripts from a small closet at BBC Film and Drama department in 1997, and living in Edinburgh in 1999 where she worked as a production secretary on a feature film shoot. Ask her about the drug bust.
